ARTIST STATEMENT

My name is Jun Baek, an EMERGING ARTIST.

BIOGRAPHY

Jun Baek (b. 2003) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. He earned his BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2025 and received scholarship support from the BC Arts Council, was a first-place recipient of the James Lee Foundation Scholarship, and won the YICCA 24/25 International Contest of Contemporary Art Award. Working across multiple countries, communities, and artistic contexts, Baek views himself as an ever-evolving construct and investigates self-discovery as an ongoing, transformative process. His practice functions as a form of documentation of a lifelong artistic trajectory that continually shifts and expands through interdisciplinary methodologies, articulated through his concept of the EMERGING ARTIST, not as a fixed professional status, but as a continuous state of becoming.
